Forrester, White, & Mathis was originally formed in 1924 by Mr.
B.F. Hardison and Mr. L.H. Shaw as Hardison & Shaw Insurance in
Ridgely, TN. We operated under this name until the death of Mr. Hardison
in 1932, at which time we operated as Shaw Insurance. The motto of Shaw
Insurance was, “We insure everything but the hereafter”.
In 1936, Mr. Raymond White purchased Shaw Insurance and changed the
name to White Insurance. We operated under this name until the merger
with the Forrester agency, owned by Mr. Mack Forrester, on July 1, 1968.
Forrester-White Insurance operated out of Ridgely until 1975, when the
Tiptonville office was opened. In 1976, Forrester-White Insurance also
purchased Reelfoot Insurance Agency from Mr. Roy Smith.
In 1984, Mr.
Raymond White retired and sold his portion of the business to Mr. Mack,
leaving the name Forrester White Insurance. In 1985, Mr. Mack purchased
the Lebo Insurance Agency from Carole Lebo. In 1987, Mr. Robert Mathis
came to work for the agency. In 1989, he became a full partner, and
the named changed to Forrester, White, & Mathis. In 1994, Forrester,
White, & Mathis merged with White & Associates of Dyersburg.
Until 1996, we operated an office in Ridgely and Tiptonville. In September
1996, we closed the Ridgely office, after 72 years of continuous service.
We are proud to be known as the oldest agency associated with White
and Associates. Times have changed since the first day that we opened,
and we have adapted to the changes that have resulted. Our motto has
also changed to “We insure everything but the hereafter with amazing
service.”
